The players set to leave Wigan Athletic

First of all the players who are out of contract:

  • Stephen Warnock
  • Jordan Flores
  • Jussi Jääskeläinen
  • Gabriel Obertan
  • David Perkins

Then, we have the players who are on loan:

  • Reece Burke
  • Callum Connolly
  • Ryan Tunnicliffe
  • Alex Bruce
  • Jamie Hanson
  • James Weir

Out of the players who are out of contract I personally think keeping Obertan, Perkins and Warnock is the main priority and as much as I would love to see Jordan Flores sign a new contract I don’t think he’s ready yet and with Jussi, he doesn’t seem very happy at Latics after being dropped for so many games and not even appearing on the bench in some matches.

With the players who are on  loan, two of them are out of contracts (Alex Bruce and Ryan Tunnicliffe) I think keeping these two would be very good, Alex Bruce hasn’t had much game time at all after coming on loan from Hull City he came after being out from injury and still isn’t up to full fitness. Ryan Tunnicliffe came in January as well on loan from Fulham and he has started quite bright, certainly better than his last loan spell at the Latics. I think loaning Reece Burke back if we can as well, as he was very good and he didn’t get to show his talent much due to inury.

Obviously there will be offers for Player Of The Season Dan Burn and Nick Powell, two stand out players in this team, keeping both of these would be crucial and I think if we can get the right manager in these two will stay and help Wigan get straight back up into the Championship.

Max Power, a player who looked to be off in January but stayed at the club put out two tweets about the club:

“Am sure the club will bounce straight back like it has done before.” some Wigan fans are saying those tweets are showing he is going to leave in the summer. Alex Gilbey has already confirmed he is staying at the club next season with this tweet:
