Cambridge United Signings: My Opinions

Overall, so far the signings Cambridge have snapped up are good. I feel we’ve added both pace and goals upfront both of which we lacked throughout the whole of last season. We have added two central midfielders who seem to both add something different to the team. Two goalkeepers who both have experience of different kinds; one who is old and been around, David Forde joins having plenty of Football League experience. The Irishman spent last season at Portsmouth where he gained promotion from League Two, that was on loan from Millwall where he made nearly 300 appearances so this wealth of experience could come in handy at the Abbey Stadium. To compliment the 37 year old, another young keeper who already has valuable experience at international Level in Mitov who is just 20 years old.

So on the whole so far my feelings for the new season are generally positive and I am feeling optimistic! However I must admit that some teams look extremely strong this year and squads throughout the league have strengthened massively. So this season will no doubt will be one of the most exciting and action packed in many years previous.

Cambridge start their 46 game journey away at Exeter who themselves will be looking to put play-off heartbreak behind him. Do you think the club have made good signings? How will Cambridge do this season? Let us know in the comments below!
